Australia Visas changes, implementation and programs 2021

Due to the pandemic, Australia did suffer quite an economic set back in the year 2020. This is true for most of the countries across. However, they have brought in a lot of changes to adapt for the current circumstances. This includes changes in the immigration programs. These changes would impact skilled migrant visa, family visa, business investor visa and international worker visa. Although there would be no change in the total number applications accepted for the year 2021, the pathways through which they would be accepted would vary. This year, there will be a lot of Family visas accepted into the country.

The total number of applications that would be accepted would continue to be 160,000. The number of applications that would be accepted through the Family Visa stream has been increased to 77,300. The Family visa should be sponsored by Australian citizens or permanent residents whose relatives they intend to have in the country. This visa program has three sub-streams – Partner Category Visa, Parent Visa, Child Visa and Other family members. The partner category visa can be used by the spouse or fiancé(e) to migrate to Australia. It’s a two-phase visa. Initially a temporary settlement is provided for the accepted visa holders, following by which permanent residency will be provided in couple of years. The spouse or partner who sponsors should be an Australian citizen or eligible New Zealand citizen or a Permanent resident there. The parent visas also require Australian PR holders or citizens to sponsor for their working or aged parents. Similar to the parent visa, child visa too is issued under many sub-classes.

Apart from the Family Visas, a lot of emphasis is put on the Global talent Visa program. Almost 15,000 applications will be accepted into the country through this Visa. As per this program, the employers will sponsor chosen foreign professionals for vacancies that cannot be filled otherwise either through the citizens or permanent residents or through Temporary Skill shortage visa holders. The validity of this visa will be 4 years, during which time the talented professional can apply for Australia Permanent residency. The holder of this visa, will have to work towards generating more job opportunities for locals in Australia. They will also have to take up charge to provide their knowledge to the locals. They need to be job multipliers.

There have been changes incorporated into Business Innovation visa. The number of business investment visa have been reduced to 4 categories, however, the regulations for this visa has been increased. The newer subclass 188 visa holders will need to hold business assets of AUD $1.25 million and they should have an annual turnover of AUD $750,000.

The number of applications accepted for Skilled Independent Immigration visa has come down to 6500. The focus this year would be to revive the regional and territories recover their economic crisis. Hence, the applications will be accepted of those who can significantly contribute to the economy in these areas. Since the number of visas accepted under 189 has reduced significantly, it is likely that there would be considerably competition for the same. It would require the applicant to identify Australia visa 189 requirements and work accordingly to gain more points.

The State nominated visa program Subclass 190 too will have enough competition. It would require the applicant to consider 190 visa points before proceeding with his or her application process.

It is highly required at this point to all those who intend to relocate to Australia to work with an immigration firm who are well experienced in the process. It requires careful deliberation on what best suits and proceed accordingly. The aspirant will need to work with a firm recognized as the Best Consultancy for Australia PR.
